Arsenates
Arsenate minerals are defined by the tetrahedral arsenate ion (AsO₄) bonded to metals, and they typically form as colourful secondary minerals in the oxidised zones of arsenic-bearing ore deposits. Common examples include mimetite, scorodite and erythrite. Many occur with lead, copper or cobalt minerals, and since they contain toxic arsenic, careful handling is advised.
