A quartz matrix with a coating of translucent, pale blue, semi-botryoidal Hemimorphite. Interspersed within and around the Hemimorphite are crusts of slightly darker Chrysocolla. Significantly, recent studies have questioned the status of the latter mineral at Roughton Gill, proposing instead that the mineral is actually a mixture of Spertiniite, Cu(OH)2, mixed with hydrous amorphous silica. Overall, a scientifically interesting old-timer specimen from a location that is no longer accessible for collecting.
